Northeast India is spread across river plains, rain forests, high mountain passes and Himalayan valleys. The best time depends on the combination you choose — Assam and Meghalaya are easier for longer months, while Arunachal and Sikkim need better road and weather windows.

Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal and Sikkim are connected, but not always in a smooth loop. We plan the order carefully so the trip does not become only airport transfers and long road hours.
More states does not always mean a better trip
A 6-day trip should not try to cover what needs 10 or 12 days. We suggest combinations based on the number of nights, so each place gets enough breathing space.
The right airport can save a full day
Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Bagdogra or even Shillong can change the whole flow of the trip. Choosing the correct start and end point makes the itinerary smoother.
Some regions need permissions before you arrive
Arunachal permits, Bumla permissions and high-altitude access need planning. We keep these in mind while designing the route, not after the guest has already reached.

The Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal combo (11 days) is the most popular — Tawang, Kaziranga, Shillong, Cherrapunji and Dawki in one loop from Guwahati. For more time, the 13-day Arunachal Explorer adds Eastern Arunachal (Roing and Anini) to the western circuit.
How many days do I need for Northeast India?
A minimum of 10 days for a meaningful two-state combo. Eleven days covers three states comfortably. Thirteen days is ideal for Arunachal's eastern circuit. Northeast roads are mountain roads — drive times are longer than they look on a map.
Do I need permits for Northeast India?
